Breakaway collars are the safest type of cat collar and recommended by the RSPCA and other animal welfare organisations. They are the only type of cat collar we sell and the only type we would put on our own cats. Your cat needs a collar that will come off easily if your cat is in danger - hooked on a tree branch, snagged on a fence, caught on a window latch - so they can break free and live to chase another mouse.
Legally cats don't need to wear a collar when going outside, and are useful to show that your cat is not a stray. However a collar should never be a substitute for microchipping your cat, and ensuring the details are kept up to date.
To fit correctly, ensure that you can get two fingers side on between your cat and the collar. Remove the collar when using liquid flea treatments.
